Sweet Cheese Bread!

Day 2- September 21, 2025

Another gorgeous day in Peña Blanca! Waking early and refreshed after a rhythmic slumber to a mega rainstorm. The kitchen was emanating fresh brewed coffee beckoning us to the table prior to our riverboat excursion. Clear skies allowed each of us to ooh and ahh over God’s creation - the flora and fauna, the iguanas, birds, and one yellow beard snake. “Tourist” was tattooed on all our foreheads as we snapped the perfect pictures.

On the way back to Alfredo House, we made a stop at the local grocery store to pick up some snacks for the week. Volunteers spent the afternoon packing Well Bags for the week’s villages. An informative meeting with Minerva and Fernando stoked our excitement and anticipation for our mission tasks. The excitement and desire to do our best was palpable. This team is desperate to understand and complement this support system that we are a small part of.

A lengthy yet yummy dinner was had at Riverhouse, with darkness and storm descending rapidly. Once safely back, our debriefing meeting fueled us once more as Frieda led us in a metaphoric devotion and Gary shared more specific information on Monday’s village. Prayers for a good night’s rest and safety for all!
