My Favorite Honduran Things

Written by Janet to be sung to the tune of Favorite Things

Sunny and humid all day in Honduras,

Smiles and giggles from all of the children,

Chatting on bus rides and setting up clinics,

These are a few of my favorite things.

When mosquitos bite, EMR’s don’t work,

When I’m feeling tired,

I simply remember those big bright brown eyes,

and then I don’t feel so tired.

Dental, Deworming, Vision and Vitamins,

Pharmacy support and good registration,

Consults with doctors, RNs and PA’s,

These are a few of my favorite things.

When a child cries, finding dengue,

When I’m feeling sad,

I simply remember those big bright brown eyes,

And then I don’t feel so sad.

Translators speaking both to us and for us,

Making referrals that shape a child’s future,

Honduran coffee and sipping a Drip Drop,

These are a few of my favorite things.

When we can’t help, when it seems hopeless,

When there’s just so much,

I simply remember to ask Him for help,

And then I just know there’s hope.

Leaders like Lidia, MJ, Minerva,

Dr. Moncada and Dr. Ondina,

Fernando, Karen, Albita and Geovany,

These are a few of my favorite folks.

Starting and ending each day with devotions,

Eating together around the big table,

Sharing our highs and sharing our lows,

These are a few of my favorite things.
