El Cacao
Friday, February 27, 2026 Team Esperanza Closed Our Week in El Cacao. What a special day! Our team members felt called to give out five crosses today to community members who touched our hearts in special ways - from their faith, their gratitude, their goals and perseverance and their need for reassurance and prayer. The day included a combination of challenging situations with patient care and lighthearted interactions that included some soccer play and fingernail painting.

Las Delicias
Thursday, February 26, 2026 This sun showed up this morning on the way to Las Delicias, but soon it hid behind the clouds as we travelled along the foggy road up the mountain, to finally shine again when we arrived - revealing an impressive blue sky. Today Team Esperanza was impressed with the gratitude and positive response of our patients, with the support that we witnessed family members giving to each other, with the patience that the patients exhibited as they waited for

Plan Grande
Wednesday, February 25, 2026 Plan Grande was the destiny God planned for our team today. We found smiles everywhere. The sun showed up and smiled at us, the community brought a lot of kids - over 60 total- that shared their smiles as well. Curious looks, laughs and songs filled the atmosphere with joy. The community provided us with spacious, clean and organized facilities which enabled our team to work easily. Our dental team was very productive and was amazed by the enduran

El Lanillal
Tuesday, February 24,2026 God took us today to El Lanillal - high in the mountains on a rainy and foggy day where we found our joy. When we arrived, we were welcomed by a lot of volunteers and a warm and caregiving family that opened not just their home, but their hearts. God bonded us emotionally with the community. We experienced joy in finding many healthy families and many examples of gratitude. Colleen (from our medical staff) had her heart touched by how a grandmother t

Ojo de Aguita
Monday, February 23, 2026 God put us on the path to Ojo de Aguita community -a one hour and ten-minute drive from Alfredo House. Our first day was a mix of feelings, but at the end of our day, we saw how God has control and a purpose. In the middle of the chaos created by equipment malfunctions, we saw opportunities for improvement - how a soft voice and gentle skills promoted calmness and eased anxiety, how in the middle of a rush there was the opportunity to enjoy a playful

The February is in Honduras!
Sunday, February 22, 2026 Team Esperanza (“HOPE”) arrived Saturday and has been busy settling in and preparing for our week ahead. It was like a mini reunion at the Miami airport as many of the members have served on this team before. New team members were warmly welcomed and immediately felt included. Sunday activities included a pontoon boat ride on Lago de Yojoa (the largest lake in Honduras) where we enjoyed the beautiful natural surroundings as we not only bonded with na

Los Hules
Thursday, January 22, 2026 Today we awoke to our final mission day in this beautiful country. (Trip cut a day short by the impending winter storm Fern headed towards Richmond). Vivian Greene once said ‘Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass; it’s about learning to dance in the rain.’ The mountain families in Honduras showed us the practical meaning behind this statement. No matter what the conditions, people come to clinics with so much joy and appreciation. Rain

El Capulín
*A Rainy Day, Full Hearts: El Capulín with Friends of Barnabas* Our January Trinity team made its third visit to El Capulín, a small community named for the cherry trees that grow nearby. The day greeted us with steady rain, which meant fewer families were able to travel to the site. Even so, the spirit of the day was anything but small. Despite the weather and the smaller turnout, the Honduran team truly hit their stride. Supplies were unloaded, stations were arranged, and t

Buena Vista
Tuesday, January 20th, 2026 Today we traveled to Buena Vista, high in the mountains. It rained steadily all day, and clouds surrounded us, but that did not discourage villagers from coming to the clinic. The roads were too muddy and slick to allow for safe passage of the bus, which required the team to hike to and from the bus. Unfortunately, we had to leave the clinic early due to worsening weather. We saw many patients with significantly elevated blood pressure. Wendy and

The dental clinic performed 14 teeth extractions, and 2 cleanings, while the vision clinic fitted 15 pairs of glasses. Roger Hart was touched by the fact that two young girls remembered

Instruments of Your Peace
Honduras Medical Mission – Day 6 Journal 10/24/25 “Lord, make us instruments of Your peace, Where there is hatred, let Your love increase, Walls of pride and prejudice shall cease…” Instruments of your Peace By: Kirk Dearman and Deby Dearman Today, those lyrics echoed through our hearts as we moved through the clinic and community—reminding us why we came, and who sent us. One by one, we became peacekeepers in action. Each patient we met carried their own burdens—some vis

Blessed are the Flexible
Honduras Medical Mission Trip – Day 5 Journal - 10/23/25 “Blessed are the flexible, for they shall not be bent out of shape.” - Erin Caldwell, President FOBF Between the rain and a little community mix-up about the clinic day, we quickly learned the truth of that saying. But by God’s grace, the rain held off, and we were able to have a full and beautiful clinic day! We were able to encounter 47 families in this community! Our morning began with the joyful sounds of schoolchil

Serving with Love and Compassion
Wednesday, October 22, 2025 Today was filled with the laughter and energy of little children everywhere! Their smiles and curiosity brightened every corner of the clinic and reminded us why we’re here — to serve with love and compassion. Anna had a touching moment today when she gave her cross to a young mother caring for her child with a medical challenge. She shared words of encouragement and prayed with her, asking the Lord to bring strength, healing, and blessings to both

Holy Moment
Day 3 – Honduras Mission Journal - 10/21/25 Today was a powerful reminder of why we’re here — to serve, to love, and to be led by God’s hand in every encounter. Many of us shared our crosses today, a deeply personal act of faith and compassion. Each team member brings a unique cross pendant to give away during the week, praying that God intervenes in a Holy Moment that impacts both the giver and the receiver with meaningful and lasting significance. Awe, Camaraderie & Preparation
Day 2 – Honduras October Medical Mission Trip - Oct 19, 2025 Today was a beautiful mix of awe, camaraderie, and preparation. We began the morning by exploring the breathtaking waterfall. We enjoyed witnessing the beauty and grace in contrast to the overwhelming power and energy of the falls. A few adventurous team members even braved the hike down to experience the spray of the falls. Undoubtedly the team's favorite part of the morning was the rainbows that shimmered throug

The October Team is in Honduras!
10/18/2025 Dear Friends and Family, Today was a beautiful start to our medical mission trip here in Honduras! Our team arrived from all over — Virginia, Tennessee, Florida, Maryland, North Carolina, and even Chile — all united with one purpose and one heart to serve. As soon as we cleared customs, the Honduran team (Fernando and Geovany) welcomed us with warm hugs, bright smiles, and then packed the bus to start the adventure. This made us feel like old friends reuniting
