A Welcome We Won't Forget: Our Day at El Tamarindo
Wednesday, October 21, 2026
Nothing prepares you for a greeting like the one we received at El Tamarindo. We were introduced like a starting lineup, complete with balloons and fans lining the way to high-five us as we arrived. It set the tone for the entire day.
Setting up at a new site always takes a bit of time, and we're grateful for how quickly everything came together. The extended covered patio gave our medical team a real home base, and it mattered on a very hot day. The Agrolíbano team and a great group of volunteers kept things running smoothly and made the heat far more manageable.
We saw seniors first, then families, and finally the volunteers who had given so much to support us. Hypertension and diabetes were the most common conditions we encountered, a reminder of how valuable consistent access to care and follow-up can be.
After arriving at the Agrolíbano brigade house, we attended a presentation on Fundación Agrolíbano's Poverty Alleviation program. It is an impressive, carefully measured initiative, built on clear goals and a commitment to tracking real outcomes. We look forward to seeing the results and measurements they described as the program matures, and we are excited by the possibility of partnering with them in the future.
To everyone at El Tamarindo who welcomed us, and to the Agrolíbano team and volunteers who made the day possible: thank you.
~Chris
