Yolanda kicked off the morning with a devotional about flashlights, and how you don’t throw them away just because the batteries need changing. She reminded us that we should always help someone with a dim light, and even lend ours to them in the meantime.
Today’s community was called Plan Grande, Santa Cruz de Yojoa, Cortés. There was a beautiful nearby field filled with horses and other animals. The community opened up their wonderful school to us for the clinics. The day was filled with warm smiles and laughter. Today marked the last time this community will be visited before graduating.
Alex gave her cross to an eight-year-old girl. She gave Alex a big hug after receiving fluoride treatment and was at her heels for the rest of the day. Erin was touched by a sweet elderly woman that was excited to show off her reading skills. Shar applauded the team’s flexibility and grace that has been on display so far this week. Billy gave away two crosses to sisters that have been adapting to a changing life situation with bravery and faith.
Billy led tonight’s devotional about seeing each other the way God does: based on what’s inside. He handed out clay balls with small hidden treasures inside to go along with his story. Afterward, he read about the community that we will be visiting tomorrow. Dinner was filled with laughter and fellowship as we recounted our favorite parts of the day.
