Holy Moment

Day 3 – Honduras Mission Journal - 10/21/25

Today was a powerful reminder of why we’re here — to serve, to love, and to be led by God’s hand in every encounter. Many of us shared our crosses today, a deeply personal act of faith and compassion. Each team member brings a unique cross pendant to give away during the week, praying that God intervenes in a Holy Moment that impacts both the giver and the receiver with meaningful and lasting significance. Alan, Cristina, Shirley, JennaLynn and Joseph each gave their crosses to patients or family members who needed comfort and hope. Billy and Kevin experienced a special kind of homecoming — one year ago, they gave their crosses to patients they met again today. Both men were overjoyed to see these patients again - living testimonies of how the foundation’s continuing work truly changes lives.

In the dental clinic, Kim and Pam found their rhythm and worked with compassion as a cohesive team. They served 74 dental patients today, completing 35 treatments — including 19 extractions, 10 fillings, and 10 cleanings. Their smiles and skills brought relief and confidence to so many who had been waiting for care.

In the medical clinic, Yolanda, and Nareesa along with the rest of the medical team encountered several patients with chronic illnesses such as high blood pressure in exceptionally young patients. Alvin provided key vital signs for effective identification and treatment as these patients arrived at stations for care. Thanks to the foundation’s partnership with local communities and Dr. Moncada's insight and compassionate care, these patients were referred for ongoing treatment. The mission’s vision extends far beyond the week we’re here — it’s about ensuring long-term health, stability, and faith in the years to come.

Anna, Joseph, John & Cristina, Kim, and Pam & Alan took the clinic on the road for a home health visit. They met a woman who was physically unable to attend clinic day, so they brought care to her bedside. Together they provided medical care for her body, prayer for her spirit, and worship for her soul through a song - a Holy Moment — one that reminded all of us that sometimes the greatest ministry happens in the quiet corners of a humble home.

To end the day, Bunny shared a conversation with Josue, one of the foundation’s full-time team members, about the meaning of “Honduras.” He explained that Honduras means “depths” — or “deep waters.” As we reflected, it reminded us of God’s calling to step out into deep waters of faith, where trust replaces control, and where miracles often unfold. In Honduras, we are reminded that even when the waters seem deep, God is with us — guiding, sustaining, and calling us to rise above, thankful to be out of the deep waters and into His grace.

We close today once again overwhelmed by His mercy, propelled by His grace and energized by His Spirit.
