“Silence is required to hear My guidance and inspiration. You have to learn to tune out the incessant chatter of the world and your mind…Can you feel My presence? With a deep breath can you sense the calm, peace and tranquility I wash over you?”
Today started with a team photo followed by a ride to El Cacao. The community has 136 inhabitants living in 45 family groups. There are only 25 homes that are inhabitable in the community. There is access to potable water from a spring approximately 1 km distance from the community.
The clinic was opened with a greeting prayer by Dawn. Overall, everyone commented on how well the clinic flowed today even though space was limited. John and Kim both stated they had a great day in the dental clinic, noting that they saw fewer extractions and no extractions for children. Alvin was surprised by how many patients had high blood pressure and rapid heart rates, which did not seem appropriate for their age. Jenna Lynn provided a lot of patient education today. Billy still states he ‘has the best job’ and enjoyed all of the children smiling for him. Glenda also remarked on how well the day went in the vitamin and deworming clinic. She was able to spend more time educating the patients on how to take their vitamins.
Nareesa and Jessica gave their crosses away today. Nareesa gave her cross to a patient with an incurable disease. The patient thought she had been cured however Nareesa had to inform the patient the disease would progress. This information came as a shock to the patient. Jessica saw a 74-year-old gentleman with no complaints but upon further assessment the patient was experiencing chest pain while working in the fields. Both patients were referred for further follow up.
The day concluded with a tour of the Barnabas House and a devotional by Shirley. Romans 8:28 “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.”
