Our Saturday morning started very early! Most of our team met at St. Luke's UMC in Danville at 3:00 am. Our driver, Duane Rohlfsen kept us on schedule, arriving at Piedmont Triad Airport in plenty of time to meet others, unload, check-in, and breeze through security. We arrived at the gate and boarded our first flight to Atlanta. The flight was under an hour which allowed us the opportunity during our layover to grab a bite to eat and enjoy the sunrise at the gate. We boarded in Atlanta and were off to San Pedro Sula, Honduras.
Upon arriving in Honduras, we lined up at customs and waited and waited and waited! Two other flights arrived at the same time as our plane and all passengers had to go through customs. Once through customs, Nury was waiting for us with the remaining two team members who flew from Montana, Janet and Anna Fredrickson.
We gathered our baggage and made our way to the bus. After the baggage was loaded we all sat down for lunch at Wendy's. Getting to know one another a little better as we sat around the lunch table was such fun! We finished up and boarded the bus for Peña Blanca.
And we're off!! Excited, anxious and ready to get to Alfredo's House, we unfortunately sat in traffic for much of the afternoon. Construction and a few auto mishaps had traffic backed up for miles and miles. We finally cleared the toll booth and set off on our journey up the mountain to Alfredo's House.
Finally! Marco Tulio delivered us to our home away from home for the week. We were greeted by other staff and a lovely dinner awaited us. Sitting down around the table as a family is such a gift. We talked and laughed and ate a wonderful meal.
We’re all tired and tomorrow we start early so I'll bid you a good night! We are excited to see what the Lord has for us and we ask you to continue to keep us in your prayers as we go out and be the hands and feet of Christ.
