Reveille's First Day

Saturday, July 12

This morning at 3:50 AM, our fourteen team members gathered at the Richmond airport before our departure. Despite the early morning, we all made it through security and to our gate in good spirits. Before boarding our first flight to Houston, we all sat at the gate and engaged in what Reveille United Methodist Church calls "coffee fellowship." After getting to know each other better over coffee and a little breakfast, we boarded our flight and made it to Houston. We continued from Houston to San Pedro Sula, where we were greeted by Nury's smiling face and helpful guidance. After collecting our bags, we had a quick bite to eat before boarding the bus with Elmer and journeying to Alfredo house!

When we arrived at Alfredo House we were greeted by delicious fruit, the mango was a big hit! We relaxed a little bit before we were introduced to Pedro. Pedro explained to us his system for sorting medicine and we began work at a long table outside. Not long after we began, the weather became dark and windy causing all our labels for the pill bags to go flying away. We all ran after them and in a joint effort between Pedro and us, they were all rescued! By this time the wind started picking up and raining so we all frantically carried all our supplies inside and resumed our labeling and sorting indoors. We all worked hard, laughing about how fast we had secured everything. At 5:30, we all sat down to our first wonderful dinner in Honduras as a team. Dinner was filled with stories from team members who are returning to Honduras with Friends of Barnabas and questions and hopes from new team members. We are excited to see where the Lord will lead us in Honduras and cannot wait for another full day tomorrow!
