The April "Sus Manos" Team is in Honduras!

Sunday, April 19, 2026

Our Mountain Medical Team was warmly welcomed by the Honduran staff of Friends of Barnabas. We were greeted with many smiles and hugs. We were assured more than once that we are family.

Getting here was an adventure for 12 of us. Instead of a half day trip, we flew from Richmond to New York (due to a cancelled flight) and spent a night in Miami, arriving a day late. Although the extra travel tired our bodies, the delay did not dampen our spirits.

As the medical staff met on Sunday afternoon, the rest of us, together with local staff, joyfully packed bags with instructions and basic medicinal supplies for families in the five mountain communities that we will visit this week.

Our evening devotion included a moving hymn that declared in part: "I, the Lord of wind and flame, I will tend the poor and lame, I will set a feast for them. My hand will save." Our April team is called "Sus Manos", "His hands", and we blessed one another's hands tonight.

That is one of my favorite hymns! My thoughts and prayers are with you all as you share this experience!
