Team aMAYzing - Sunday

May 17, 2026

Team aMAYzing had a very eventful day. The morning began with a bean and cheese toast and papaya breakfast. Then a gorgeous adventure pontooning on Lake Yojoa. We saw a huge collection of wildlife including a water buffalo, lizards, chickens, peacocks, flying fish, turtles, and a stampede of horses, oh my. We stopped by the grocery store for the team to try some fun Honduran snacks and drinks including banana soda, plantain chips, yuca chips, and conchas.

Then we returned to Alfredo’s House and enjoyed pupusa made by the newly dubbed Pupusa Princessas Karen and Albita. The team also enjoyed trying Hibiscus tea for the first time and learned about the medical benefits and warnings related to many food and drinks common in Honduras.

After lunch, we practiced point of care ultrasound to help people in the community over the week. We spent the afternoon packing medications, supplies, tooth powder and wellness bags for clinic. Then we went out to dinner at D&D Brewery where the overall favorite was the typical Honduran plate including maduros. Gabbi met a Huntsman Spider in the bathroom, and we got to see a Montezuma Oropendola bird.

Finally, we came home to a blessing of hands for the week, receiving of crosses to gift throughout the week and to learn about the community we will visit tomorrow.
