March Mountain Medical Team

“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” – 1 Peter 4:10

We started off our day with a devotional before breakfast. In the devotional we discussed a story by some missionaries in Spain who paused to pray while their train was leaving before their supplies were fully loaded. The train then stopped after pulling away and the remaining passengers were allowed on. The takeaway from the story is to remember to take time for Jesus even when things seem chaotic and uncertain. It is a good metaphor to apply to life and to our week as we prepare to serve.

After breakfast we went over to a local lake where we enjoyed the sights of peacocks, chickens, burros and horses. We went for a boat ride and took in the scenery of the lake and the surrounding countryside. After returning from our boat ride, we stopped at the local grocery store in town to pick up snacks. We returned to the house in time for lunch.

After lunch we packed bags of tooth powder and vitamins for our stock to be handed out on clinic days over the course of the week. We had an information session where we learned about the village we will be visiting on Monday. We were given another session on organizing clinics, and the medical staff were given a refresher course on the use of electronic medical records.

We left for dinner at 4:30pm and had a nice dinner in the company of each other and our Honduran staff. We enjoyed the evening sunset driving home. Afterwards we had our evening devotion and the blessing of the hands as we prepared to begin our work week.
