Long Roads, Open Hearts

Today was a hot day in Honduras as our team traveled through the mountains on long, bumpy roads to Los Mangos, a community new to Friends of Barnabas. Surrounded by mango trees, we arrived ready to do the work God had called us to do.

Throughout the day, more and more children came to the clinic. While their laughter brought joy, we were also heartbroken to see signs of malnutrition in some of the children we served. We cared for men and women facing heart conditions, diabetes, and breathing issues, reminding us of the ongoing healthcare needs in this community.

One story that especially stayed with us was that of a mother caring for her child with additional medical needs. She was doing everything she could to provide for and advocate for her child, yet time and again she had been turned away when seeking medical care. Her perseverance and love for her child were both inspiring and heartbreaking.

We also witnessed moments of pure joy. One little girl lit up with the biggest smile when she saw bubbles. Her laughter reminded us that even in difficult circumstances, joy can still be found in the simplest things.

Today was a reminder that ministry often holds both heartbreak and hope. We are grateful for the opportunity to serve the people of Los Mangos and ask for prayers for this community, especially for the children, those facing health challenges, and families working tirelessly to care for their loved ones. The journey was long, but every mile was worth it.
