Las Margaritas

Monday, July 15, 2024

Hola from Honduras! The Reveille Mountain Medical Team had a great first day treating members of the Las Margaritas community. Fun fact: this community got its name because so many women in the community have been named Margarita! The people were so warm and engaged in receiving treatments and learning about ways to improve their overall health.

Working with the Honduras Friends of Barnabas staff and local Honduran volunteers, we were able to collect developmental milestone data and vitals for children and adults; provide vitamins, prescriptions and OTC medications; eye checks; and dental care. The dental clinic has recently launched into a new era of providing preventative dental care by offering teeth cleaning and restorative dentistry. It was exciting to see patients come to the dental clinic requesting these services.

After a muy rico dinner, we had devotions and reflected on the times when people ask for help, our call is to show up with hope. Not because they are different, but because they are the same.
