La Germania I

The Face of Christ - 4.20.2026

Today's community was remote. We passed many groves of coffee trees as we drove miles up a steep dirt road deeper into the mountains. La Germania I is a mountain agricultural community of about 280 persons. There are 35 children in the local elementary school.

We were greeted by many smiling faces of all ages when we arrived. Those we served ranged in age from infancy to 98 years old. In a touching moment, one team member even heard the heartbeat of a child yet to be born.

As is often the case, the children were a highlight. Two young children came dressed as sparkling princesses. All of the children were well behaved and enjoyed catching bubbles, jumping rope, and coloring. Many enthusiastically colored pictures of Jesus and proudly displayed them. It was a vivid reminder of our mission to bring the healing touch of Jesus to their community. But, in reality, we were the ones who were touched by the spirit of Christ we found in the children.

Fittingly, our devotion this evening included Gospel music with the lyrics, "Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine. " Together, the patients of all ages, but especially the children, revealed the presence of Christ in our midst and in our mission.
