A Day of Joy, Familiar Faces, and Lasting Impact đź‡đź‡łâť¤ď¸Ź
Today was another beautiful reminder that sometimes the smallest moments leave the biggest impressions.
During Linda’s first encounters of the day, Linda noticed a young boy happily playing on the swings. As she watched him, something truly special unfolded. While others were shy to dance, he busted his best moves with the biggest smile on his face. That smile stayed with him throughout the day as he gave hugs, shared his joy, and welcomed Linda as his new friend. Linda gave him her cross and offered him prayers, carrying away a heart full of joy from this precious new friendship. ❤️Â
Dr. Jim’s cross carried a different kind of story…one of familiarity, memories, and a meaningful goodbye. During his previous four visits over the years, he had encountered the same woman and her family. He recognized her familiar face and remembered the many years of seeing their family during his service to Honduras. Dr. Jim even had old photographs from years ago, including one of the first times he had given this particular woman his cross. Knowing that this would be the final year that Friends of Barnabas would send a Medical Mission Team to this community, he felt led to give her his cross one last time. It was a beautiful farewell and a reminder of the relationships that have been built over years of returning, serving, and loving this community.
Today also marked a very special milestone as this community graduated from the Friends of Barnabas program. They expressed their sincere gratitude for the support, generosity, and partnership they have received over the past five years. Â A plaque was presented to commemorate this journey and will remain as a lasting reminder of the impact Friends of Barnabas has had on this Honduran community and of the many lives touched along the way.
As we reflect on today, we are reminded that mission work is about so much more than medicine. It is about relationships, joy, prayer, friendship, and showing people that they are loved.
Â
We may be nearing the end of this particular journey, but the love and impact shared here will continue long after we leave. đź‡đź‡łâť¤ď¸Źđź™ŹđźŹĽ
