Good morning from Honduras!
We started our day with a delicious breakfast and a devotional led by Shirley about this week. We are sharing a common direction and a common purpose. We are here to serve God, serve others, and serve alongside one another. We can get where we are going more effectively when we work together and allow ourselves to be strengthened by the people around us.
Then we were able to celebrate Nathalie’s (one of our translators) birthday with some cake.
After a picturesque drive up the mountains, through the clouds we arrived at the beautiful community of El Encinal in Las Vegas Santa Barbara. El Encinal has 150 residents comprising of about 45 families. Their potable water source is from a spring located about 4km away with intermittent unsafe drinking water impacting the health of the local residents. There is no public transportation that is close to the community.
Cristina and John gave their crosses to 2 different members of this community. John gave his cross to a quiet gentleman who supports this community and Cristina gave her cross to a young girl with big dreams and confidence to achieve them. During the opening, Joseph noticed that the community was very receptive to Cristina’s message of love and service. In the medical clinic, Yolanda, Nareesa and Shirley noted how many patients retained medical information from previous FOBF visits. Jessica, Dale and Anna noted that the patient flow went smoother today. Alvin and Billy remarked that the community was very tightly knit with lots of people supporting each other. In the dental clinic, Matthew noticed that the patients took care of their teeth and there were not as many extractions.
We ended the evening with a delightful devotion sent by JennaLynn and delivered by Anna. It was about how each person is like a fingerprint, unique and intentionally created by God. Everyone enjoyed creating fingerprint art, including Don Danilo!
