El Cielito

We ended our last evening as we have every night here in Honduras: hearing a devotion from one of our team members and sharing roses and thorns around the table. Over the course of the week, our team has shared much around this table: wonderful meals, contagious laughter, vulnerable tears, heartfelt encouragement, and too many memories to count. Our time together started in Honduras with a meeting around this table, so it felt fitting that our last night ended sharing favorite moments around that same table.

Today’s clinic day brought some much-appreciated cooler weather, and our team was very thankful that the rain stopped on our drive up to the community this morning. A highlight for us all was Alina finding some fruit trees near our site, one with lemons and the others clementine. In this area, they looked nearly identical until you bite into them and get surprised, whether good or bad. She came into the medical clinic and shared it with our team, which led to some very funny reactions before we started seeing our patients for the day. More laughter ensued tonight as we relived this moment during roses and thorns today.

Due to some lower numbers of patients, we were finished a little earlier than normal, allowing our team to spend some quality time with the Honduran FOBF staff we have been working with all week. We have truly been blessed by our interpreters, medical staff, bus and truck drivers, and the countless people who work full time to make the mission of FOBF become a reality here. Thank you doesn’t feel like enough for all they have done to serve us and make us feel like family here in Honduras.

We would love for continued prayers for our travels as we start our journey back to the US tomorrow. It has been such a memorable week for so many of us, and any on our team would be glad to share ways we have seen the Lord this week, or how we have been changed for the better. As one shared tonight, “I always go home a better person than when I come”, and that’s the truth.

Thanks for following along during our time here! We have loved getting to share our week with you!
