Brisas del Campo

Monday, July 14, 2025

We left Alfredo’s House at 7am sharp this morning for our first village in the town of Brisas del Campo.  The community was established in 2002 after relocating due to landslides and flooding.  The community has 250 inhabitants (100 below 18 years old) which are divided into 55 families living in 55 homes. Most common health issues in children are respiratory, diarrhea issues and parasites.  For adults it is colds and fevers, dengue, diabetes and hypertension.

Our day started in the community grade school with several new translators being baptized in the medical clinic.  A staff leader for FOBF – Minerva, opened with a community prayer and then all stations were off and running. One of many highlights of the day was a 60-year cerebral palsy patient who was so grateful for a referral to physical therapy treatment.  He offered payment, but obviously that was not an option.  So, in return he thanked the staff with a gift of bananas.

On a lighter note, Jim, Scott and Rico took entertainment to another level by building several models of highly functional paper airplanes to entertain the children.  This lasted almost an hour, and a pair of brothers scooped up all the planes and raced towards there home.  This is part of our job to interact with the community and make the health care treatment a memorable experience.

This blog is just a snapshot of the events of the day.  Each day has countless events that the team all loves as part of our day serving this community.  We are blessed to be here and look forward to sharing more with you in the coming days.

~Jim, Scott, Marc and John
