Farewells and Fireworks

Journal 5

Our last full day in Honduras began with birds singing, the sun shining, a beautiful full view of the mountains, and fresh coffee brewing. For us the last day is so bittersweet as all of us are getting older and dealing with various health problems, this may be our last trip to Honduras. Through the years we have come to love the staff at the Barnabas House; some have been here for many years, others are new additions, all have a very dear place in our hearts.

There were few jobs left to do. We had to remove the forms on the cap of the block wall, finish a little painting and clean up. We made a run to town for more shopping and had a chance to stop by Elmer's store for a short visit. He was our driver for many years.

Our afternoon was spent getting ready for a party tonight. We have invited the staff, their families and the children at the orphanage next door for refreshments and a fireworks show. We also presented all staff with gift bags of food items and cleaning supplies. We had two pinatas for the children. I can't began to tell you what a joyous occasion it was, meeting the staff's families and fireworks show was amazing. There were also many sad good-byes!

The repair team wishes to say thank you for all the prayers and support for this worthy mission.
