Greetings from beautiful Honduras! Today, Team Reveille traveled to the Plan Grande community in Santa Cruz de Yojoa in Cortes. Dengue, a mosquito borne illness, was a common theme in today’s clinic. There were several patients with chronic illnesses like hypertension and Type 2 Diabetes, so patient education for managing these conditions as well as referrals for these patients to have their illnesses followed more closely in the community were made.
There were so many precious children and families we were able to care for today. Jose, one of the Friends of Barnabas staff members, dubbed two energetic little boys the “tornado brothers.” The boys ran around and brought lots of smiles at the end of the day. Another little girl gave all of the team members hugs before we left to return to Casa Alfredo. It is hard to believe that our mission to serve vulnerable mountain communities of Honduras is halfway over!
