Our last clinic day started with a devotional from Shirley: what we need to ask ourselves is; How do you handle adversity? Are you an egg? The egg starts in one form but turns hard with heat. Or are your a coffee bean? The coffee bean actually changes the hot water, releasing fragrance and flavor. It is the very circumstance that brings us out of our comfort zone. May we all be COFFEE!“I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through Him who gives me strength.” Philippians 4:12&13
Today's community was Col. III De Octubre. It was established on October 3rd, 1988, and there are approximately 390 inhabitants in 92 families. About 80% of workers are in agriculture, 10% are fisherman, and 10% construction. Water is obtained from a river 1km away however the water was found to be on private property and the community no longer has a water source. They must collect rainwater, which is difficult during the dry season.
We ended our final day with a debriefing and two devotionals: one from Kim and one from Yolanda.
“No matter who, what, when or how, just continue to help, sustain, wipe tears, listen attentively and carefully repair all the ‘leaks’ you find. You never know when someone needs us or when God holds a pleasant surprise for us to be helpful and important to someone else.”
