Cast for the Part

Reveille Team assembled in Honduras yesterday afternoon with team members flying in from Illinois, Iowa, and Virginia. We enjoyed our first meal together and promptly went to bed. When I had the need to get up in the middle of the night, I stepped out of Room 1 in near total darkness into a large puddle of water!  I was pretty sure I was truly awake and not sleep walking and was indeed standing in water. I got to thinking about the leak and wondered if the water cooler had sprung a leak or the water dispensing handle had gotten stuck, but all was dry. I then wondered if water somehow had come in the now closed front door of Alfredo House but the floor was dry. As it was the middle of the night, I laid down towels and went back to bed to sleuth in the morning.

This morning I heard stories of a long night of pounding rain and loud thunder which shook Alfredo House through three separate storms. Rain beat against the house in all directions including giving the front door a direct hit. Water seeped in and found its way into the channels created by the grout between the floor tiles and flowed to the center of the floor outside Room 1 creating the large puddle. One additional amazing thing I learned was that I was so exhausted last night from the excitement of travel that I slept through all the storms! I heard nothing so I had no clue of the torrent of rain that besieged us, left the mystery puddle, and awakened the rest of the team throughout the night.

We had a fun trip to the park enjoying walking the trails around the waterfall and ziplining today. We dove into packing pills, wellness bags, and tooth powder bags for the week. We shared dinner together and reflected on a devotion from the book, Live In Grace, Walk In Love by Bob Goff. Reflections from the devotion included “God already picked you to play a role in the story you find yourself in…He had you in mind before the first scene started…God wired you with a unique way of giving away love, and then He told you to go play.” We shared why each of us answered this call. Tomorrow we will each play “our part.”
