Brisas del Campo

May 20th, 2026

Today we visited Brisas del Campo. This was a much shorter drive compared to yesterday, but as is common on team trips, many team member's lows involved being a little tired today. Another common low for today was the language barrier. As the team has gotten into the flow of things and has more time to get to know community members, the inability to communicate in fluid language becomes a little more frustrating. The other team- shared low was that contagious rashes were very common in the community today, so there was a higher need to be careful with contact precautions.

Highs for today!

Elias gave away his cross to Emmanuel who was a little guy helping him encourage kids to take their anti-parasite medication and was looking for mentorship.

Dr. Mike gave away his cross today to a sweet little girl who was very scared and anxious. Then later in the day he had a sticker party at his station where all the kids flocked to his medical station and had a blast collecting stickers, especially the scratch and sniff ones!

Ken and Karla gave away their crosses to two sisters who were very scared and upset in dental this morning. They also enjoyed meeting a 91-year-old man who came into the clinic for a dental extraction.

Gabbi’s was an 8-year-old laughing through his entire physical exam; it brought her joy and a smile to her face all day.

Dylan gave away his cross to a little boy named Mario who came and hung out with him at the pharmacy.

Dr. Alexander got to swap out in medical and see the other stations, and he was very impressed with the intradisciplinary care of the organization.

Lots of families were thankful for care and gave team members blessings after leaving medical clinic stations.

Julie was able to spend time in the afternoon reconnecting with Dr. Ondina.

Emberli was happy to hold some sweet, tired babies while doing large family assessments in the heat.

Lots of fun birds were spotted by the birdwatchers of the group, a group favorite was the MotMot.

The team also enjoyed celebrating Fernando’s Birthday singing Feliz cumpleaños! We also had Triple dessert! Ice cream on the way home, then birthday cake and coconut bars for after dinner dessert. Team dinner was extra fun tonight as the group has gotten to know each other and is able to laugh at and with each other.

Thanks for Following along!

Team aMAYzing
