Today was another incredible day serving in Honduras! Our team began the morning filled with gratitude and energy, ready to continue the mission. The day began with one of our new team members, Cristina, warmly welcoming the community to the clinic day. She spoke with such compassion and thankfulness for the opportunity to serve, and the people responded beautifully—her sincerity and love for them were felt deeply.
Alan, Kim, Kevin, Alvin, Bunny, and Pam shared how encouraged they were to see the remarkable improvements in the community’s health, the scope of treatment offerings in both medical and dental areas, and pharmacy options compared to previous years. They encountered fewer severe illnesses, better treatment compliance, improved hygiene practices, and enhanced trust between the team and the families. The improvements are proof of the foundation's continued dedication and the lasting differences being made in the communities we serve.
The medical team—Shirley, Nareesa, Yolanda, JennaLynn, Anna, and Joseph— had a busy, fulfilling day. They treated patients with vision concerns, infections, post-injury care needs, and chronic illness education and referrals, while also offering substantive health education. A highlight of the day was watching Joseph fulfill a life goal and dream caring for his first-ever Friends of Barnabas patient as an official nurse after recently passing his nursing exam and graduating this summer—a truly special and proud moment for the team!
After all the work was done, it was time for what everyone looks forward to—playing with the children. Billy's art projects were filled with color and creativity, JennaLynn brought laughter and energy with a lively game of Duck, Duck, Goose, and John and Alvin had the kids jumping and laughing with jump rope rhymes and rhythms.
As clinic concluded for the day, the bus rolled out of the community accompanied by handwaves of thankfulness, ready to rest and recharge for tomorrow’s clinic in another Honduran community.
Here’s to Day 3—God is moving in powerful ways, and we’re honored to be part of it.
