Greetings from Honduras!
Yesterday, Team 4 traded pollen (and snow?!) covered cities for the hot, dry, dusty roads of Honduras. The team members who travelled from Greensboro arrived without incident. It was a different story for the two members traveling from Richmond. They missed their connecting flights and arrived today, Sunday.
Experiencing a change of plans from the start is a great reminder of Who is in charge of our week. We may think we know why we are here and have plans to accomplish a specific purpose, but ultimately it is God who will direct our steps, order our days, and lead us in the way we should go.
Already, our team is bonding through time yesterday and today sorting, counting, inventorying, kayaking, attending church, and sharing sweet fellowship around the dinner table.
We were overwhelmed by the mound of cloth diapers to fold and package to deliver to the communities we will visit this week. Thank you for sending such an abundant supply of many basic necessities of life. These items will mean so much to the grateful recipients we will encounter this week.
It was comforting yesterday to end the long day gathered around the table with a blessing and the Lord's Prayer. Our evening devotion was inspired by a recent Compline service written by Danville pastor, Bruce Wilson, which refreshed our weary hearts and reinforced our need to rely on the Lord in the days ahead.
Maybe your heart needs to hear them too:
The Lord Almighty grant us a peaceful night of rest.
The Lord Almighty grant us a perfect end to this day.
Our help is in the Name of the Lord;
The maker of heaven and earth.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
Thank you for partnering with us as we find ways to help the beautiful people of Honduras. We appreciate all prayers offered on our behalf. We humbly go in the name of Jesus for the glory of God.
