Mission accomplished! Our week of therapy and teaching, screening and planning is done. Children have been assessed, and parents have been trained in ways to encourage their children’s speech development. Our medical staff has been given a plan of care for each child, so that they can continue to encourage and find appropriate longer term assistance for them.
The new eye screening device will be added to our Mountain Medical team clinics beginning in January of 2018. We are thrilled to be able to now identify children with vision issues earlier.
Teaching plans that encourage parents to use the things in their everyday life have been developed and shared with parents, teachers and our staff. Berta, our Barnabas House cook, will even be using these teaching plans as she interacts with our patients. Helping our patients and communities to learn and grow is the job of everyone, both staff and FOB volunteers.
Romans 12: 4-6 tells us, “For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us…” It takes the gifts and contributions of each of us to care for these precious children. We are all one body; those who come here to serve, those who contribute the funds and supplies needed to provide care, those who pray for each mission and missionary. This team came from different states, different backgrounds, and different skill sets to join together in one purpose. Making the world a little better, one child at a time.
