This has been our first day, and the weather was very sunny, a surprise, as it was predicted to be a very rainy day. We spent the day getting to know one another. It was a special time. We have had time to get anxious… and prepare… and feel ready to serve the people that are placed in our paths.
We started the morning with a tour of the grounds of Barnabas House by Patti Wagner. We then went out to a cacao farm. We climbed a Lenca (an indigenous people) archeological site and had a most beautiful view of the Honduran mountains. We returned to Alfredo’s House and enjoyed a delicious lunch. It was then time for counting and packing pills. Additionally, all team members reviewed their duties and use of the new electronic record. This will be the first full mountain medical brigade to use the electronic record, anxiety provoking to say the least, but we are prepared.
We had a delightful dinner overlooking Lago de Yojoa at The Big Bass Bar.
As we head to the mountains tomorrow, Patti shared Psalm 121, “I lift my eyes to the mountains, where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord.” This is a comforting affirmation as we embark on the mission of the week.
