Philippians 4:8-9
“Finally, my friends, keep your minds on whatsoever is true, pure, right, holy, friendly, and proper. Don’t ever stop thinking about whatever is worthwhile and worthy of praise. You know the teachings I gave you, and you know what you have heard me say and do. So, follow my example and God who gives peace will be with you.”
We all have battles within us between evil and good, and the one that wins is the one that we feed the most. Let’s feed ourselves with those thoughts that edify our spirit, our soul, and our minds; that we might thrive for the Lord and do great things for Him - and the God of peace will be with us until the end of time.
Today’s community was less than an hour away from Alfredo’s House. San Antonio de Yure, Taulabe, Comayagua has about 80 families and 70 homes. 100% of the homes cook on indoor wood stoves. Electricity is available but about 10% cannot afford to access it. They have access to potable water from a spring and this water is piped into the community.
In this community obesity is an issue, which goes along with the high percentage of diabetes and hypertension which were seen. Because of the indoor cooking, many burns and burn scars were noted from infants to adults. The need for education in this community is very high as dehydration is a major problem. Personal hygiene education was also needed as many patients with UTI’s, fungal infections, and dental caries were encountered. Emotional support and prayers were done with people who not only had medical issues but social issues as well which made them overwhelmed.
To decompress, the team went into town to some souvenir shopping. After the discussions of our day, the team dispersed for a good night’s sleep.
