Las Delicias

The Hampton Roads team embarked on a journey to the beautiful village of Las Delicias today, marveling at the breathtaking views along the way. With the sun gracing us with its presence, we had the privilege of assisting over 50 families.

The dental clinic was full of activity as our three dentists tirelessly performed fillings, extractions, and cleanings. Additionally, numerous children received fluoride treatments as a preventive measure. Young Alan, showing exceptional helpfulness in packing up, was awarded a cross by Dr. Bo as a token of appreciation.

Over in the medical clinic, individuals sought treatment for various ailments ranging from gastrointestinal issues to mental health concerns. Colleen attended to the school secretary, who expressed immense gratitude as it was her first-ever checkup. Furthermore, a mother bravely opened up about her struggles with anxiety and depression, receiving counseling from our translator, Besa. She will now receive weekly sessions to support her through her journey.

Ariely and Minerva conducted a home visit to a paralyzed woman, discovering that at 35 years old, it was her first time receiving medical attention.

Dr. Charlie provided relief to a chauffeur suffering from misaligned hips and a curved spine. Following a pelvic alignment, he left with improved posture and symmetry.

Many team members were deeply moved by the resilience of the community, noting that those facing the most severe challenges often expressed contentment with their circumstances.

Wrapping up the day on a cheerful note, both kids and team members alike enjoyed a spirited game of soccer. This joyous occasion extended when the community leaders presented our team with a certificate of appreciation for our dedication and service.

We felt privileged to serve such a gracious and beautiful community on this warm, sunny day. As we anticipate our final day tomorrow, we are filled with a mixture of excitement and sadness.
