“I created this day. There is no coincidence, chance or randomness within it. All of it has been designed and chosen for you. For your growth and development. When you look at the day through the the lens that I am with you and beside you, you will be able to remain at peace no matter what happens through the day. Things that irritate you are an opportunity to reflect and understand yourself better. Things that bring you joy are an opportunity to praise Me and thank Me.”
El Lanillal has an estimated 136 inhabitants living in 45 family groups. 90% of the homes have outdoor latrines and 100% cook on an indoor wood stove. Only 25 homes are inhabitable in the community.
Nareesa shared that the people from this community used to have a very long walk to a health care clinic. The community leader petitioned to the mayor that a road be built so that their community could have easier access to medical care. The community leader also reached out to Friends of Barnabas to partnered with them. As a result, a road was built and today was the second visit to the community.
Many of the team members commented on the beautiful scenery and that the views were stunning. There were very many babies and children. John, Dawn and Joseph enjoyed holding and spending time with them. Jacob painted fingernails and also had an opportunity to assist in the dental clinic.
Kim had a young 21-year-old male that patiently sat in the dental chair for almost 45 mins while the dentist struggled to remove his first infected tooth. She was touched by how brave and stoic he was during the lengthy process. Billy gave his cross to a Honduran staff member that has been volunteering through the summer to serve this community.
The day concluded with dinner and a devotional. James 1:19-20 “So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath; for the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God.”
