El Encinal

Today was our last day in Honduras at a clinic in El Encinal where we served 74 total people. Our team gave out 10 crosses to patients in the clinic today as we heard their stories and learned about the challenges that they are facing.

Wendy gave her cross to a 72-year-old woman with high blood pressure who said that she only drank sips of water with her pills and otherwise drink coffee all day! We are working with many of the Hondurans to encourage more hydration.

Ginny gave a cross to a little girl who wants to be a pediatrician. She copied everything that Ginny was doing, including listening to the heart of one of her family members with a stethoscope and doing the ear exam. Ginny encouraged her to follow her dream!

Chris gave his cross to a young girl who was watching our work closely and was very interested in what was happening in the pharmacy.

Hannah gave her cross to an elderly man who was her first patient of the day and smiled constantly and seemed happy despite his troubles.

Virginia G, aka Ginger to the team, gave her cross to a mom who was at the clinic with four children. Ginger appreciated the care and tenderness the mom was showing for her family.

Mark gave his cross to a 55-year-old grandmother who is taking care of her three grandchildren and also her parents.

Roger gave a cross to a little boy that was especially brave in the dentist chair.

Joseph gave his cross to a little boy who has three sisters, because he knows how hard it was to have one (ha!).

Linda gave her cross to Savannah. Savannah is one of our translators. Savannah has many skills and a bright future ahead of her. Linda told Savannah that God has a great plan for her!

Finally, Kris gave her cross to Pascuala who has survived breast cancer and is now back working with friends of Barnabas. She is beloved by many!!

It has been a fantastic week here with Friends of Barnabas in Honduras. It's always wonderful and fulfilling to see a mission team bond, collaborate and meld as one.  The staff has taken excellent care of our team, and we have served many. What a gift to be here and to be supported by so many people back at home!
