“There’s no other way to explain it: I feel the breath of God in Honduras.” Debbie perfectly summed up what we were all thinking with that sentence.
As a NICU nurse, Eydi was grateful to be outside of four walls and away from beeping machines. She loved hearing babies cry and getting to talk with their mothers.
Today was the first day of using the new equipment from Global Vision 2020 that allows FOB to make prescription glasses on site. The first patient to receive prescription glasses had pure joy on her face.
Many people in the community were patient, able to have conversations with us without knowing the same language and were eager to help with the set-up and take down of the clinic. A couple of young boys were so eager that when only heavy items remained, they were very disappointed in not being able to help. Susan found lighter items for the boys to carry, and they were delighted to help. We, in turn, were delighted by their help.
A two-year-old that Cindy treated in the medical clinic, smiled at her and waved good-bye as she left the clinic. We were touched to make such strong bonds in such a short amount of time.
