Team Trinity loved their last day in Honduras with service to Agua Salada. We really enjoyed getting to know Fernando, the community leader. He has been the leader for 7 years. Our team found him to be nicest, kindest man. He clearly shows love for his community.
In the general clinic, Linda gave her cross to a 28-year-old who got sober 6 months ago to be better for his family.
The children of Agua Salada were just as wonderful as last year. Matthew reunited with his buddies from last year, Karen and Christian. The community teacher’s children, Lilliana and Mario, were favorites of the team from this year. So much so that they joined us for the team picture.
Lidia joined in the fun and fellowship and made friendship bracelets with the children. Tonight, she told us a story of a very young girl, Britany, who was left abruptly with her grandmother. Lidia reminded this sad little girl that she was a gift to her grandmother and that she has tremendous value to her family. She made Britany a bracelet and they caught on quickly. The moms, the girls and the boys all were soon sporting bracelets! So many kids were excited. The one bracelet Lidia made sparked excitement across the entire community. Later that same little girl came into the dental clinic and Jamie told her “God loves you”.
We have all nicknamed the fantastic Sara as “Siri” because just like the Apple AI, Sara really does know everything going on in pharmacy! We can’t say enough about how much we appreciate the fabulous Honduran team. Geovany and Fernando navigated some crazy roads this week, Minerva was incredible support and information for us all week. We loved each of our translators as well as the one and only Melvin, who kept us on track! How lucky we are to serve alongside these gifted and caring people.
To close our visit Jim gave a devotion around the parable of the seed planted in the fertile soil vs thorny soil. FOBF, he said, is the seed in fertile soil that continues to nurture and grow the foundation and continues to give its fruitful gifts to the people of Honduras.
Tomorrow, we return home renewed and refocused. We can’t wait for next year.
