Do you ever wonder, “Did I make a difference?” I do almost daily. I try my best to think before I speak. I try to be helpful even to a fault at times, not everyone wants help… lesson learned. As I aged, I grew more into my spiritual being, and God molded and shaped me into this current model (He’s not done yet!). Thoughts cross our minds because we are human. Did I say the wrong thing? Did I help with what God wanted me to assist with? Did I overstep my place? Then I remember we are but ripples in the ocean. No matter who’s paths we cross, no matter whom we smile at today, or who we pick something up for tomorrow we are a ripple in their ocean and they are a ripple in ours.
Imagine all of us as differing sized waves because we come in all different shapes and sizes per God’s design. We are flowing together and sometimes we merge, and sadly sometimes we part. My wave goes to the Pacific and yours veers to the Atlantic, but my wave remembers when you told me you understood my pain and cried with me that day. Your wave might remember that I trusted you enough to expose my deepest sadness and vulnerability that day. Fast forward one hundred years later and our waves merge again, this time for eternity and we discuss all those ripples. We discuss all the ripples with all the people who rode the ocean’s currents with us as we took this journey called life.
Albeit we feel miniscule in comparisons to God’s greatness. A team of us rode a wave together, we crashed into shores, we cried, we loved, and we gave all we could. The Hondurans embraced us into their ocean and merged into our waves and we caused a ripple effect that will be felt by us all for as long as we live. So, I have to believe that each person we cared for, each person we prayed for, every community member that sought medical care and crossed our path, will meet us once again to discuss our “ripples in the ocean.”
This is the end of our Medical Mountain Team’s mission but it is not the end of our reach. Together we all can make a difference regardless of how small of a part we play in the process. Please take a moment and go to: www.FOBF.org and look into ways you can help bring more ripples into the ocean, we may even ride waves together one day!
1 Chronicles 29:12
“Both riches and honor come from You, and You reign over all. In Your hand is power and might; in Your hand it is to make great and to give strength to all.”
