SOVA's Last Day of Clinics

Journal 6

Friday, March 10, 2017

Six word phrases:"The healing power of a touch" and "With God all things are possible" by Martha. "Pick up your mat and go" and "Your faith has made you complete" by Mike. "A very simple way of life." "How many wheelchairs did you see?" "Give compliments without hesitation, say thanks." "Don't take any day for granted." by Terry.

Today we visited El Tontol, Las Vegas, Santa Barbara, a community of 50 families and 230 people. The community has drinkable water unlike most of the villages we have visited this week. We saw 209 patients in general clinic, 36 in eye clinic, and 42 in the dental clinic. This was the smallest community of the week but one of the busiest days. In total we ministered to 1,237 patients!

There was a group from Canada with World Accord constructing a building right next door to the dental clinic. The building we were using for the dental clinic had been constructed by them as well.

At the end of the day we had to say goodbye to many of our new friends including translators and staff who have helped us this week. Our bus driver, Jethro, thanked us for allowing him to drive for us. One must experience the journey on those roads to understand how thankful we were to be kept safe from his skill.

Tomorrow we kayak, see water falls and depart the Alfreda House to spend our final night in San Pedro Sula. We are spent from the week but renewed as well. We will all return to our privileged lives knowing we made a difference in the lives of the Hondurans. Thank you for the opportunity to be a part of this wonderful mission!
