Brandermill-Warwick MMT

Busy, Fun Weekend

On Saturday, the Brandermill/Warwick mountain medical team arrived on time and intact in San Pedro Sula. Customs was successfully navigated and we were greeted with a big smile from Nury and Mark. Marco was waiting for us, smiling from the bus. We boarded for a very bumpy ride and experienced the incredible Honduran traffic that gives one the idea that traffic laws are just a rumor.

In spite of the traffic we were able to view and enjoy the beautiful Honduran countryside. Arriving at La Casa de Alfredo we were welcomed warmly by Lidia, Virginia and Alba. We started right to work counting pills to be taken to the five communities during the week. We enjoyed a fantastic dinner and a beautiful devotion given by Charles revolving around how we would let our light shine this week in the communities. Afterward was time for some relaxation, unpacking and bed because it had been a very long day for all of us.

After good night’s sleep, enhanced by falling rain, cool breezes and comfortable beds, we woke to the mouthwatering aromas of the delicious breakfast waiting for us. After breakfast, team members visited the Cataras de Pulhapanak (waterfalls) which were enhanced by last night’s rain. Such beauty! We had our devotion under a shelter near the river and blessed each other’s hands in order to use them to God's will in the coming week. Then home again to count more pills, sort gifts for each village and pack up the bus for tomorrow. We toured the facility and visited with Eduar; who continues to heal following his surgery. He should be going home next week, praise God! Then out for yet another delicious meal together as a team.

It has been a very eventful, busy, fun-filled weekend. Now we will put our minds and hearts toward the real reason we were sent here by a very loving, knowing God...to serve in His name…the children and families of Honduras.

Until our next posting, may God bless all of our supporters and friends.
