"Thank you, I love you."

We enjoyed breakfast bright and early at 6:30 this morning. The homemade doughnuts were a big hit. There was a massive thunderstorm last night which interrupted the sleep of some, but that's what coffee is for!

After breakfast we drove about an hour and a half to the village of El Sauce. The drive was incredibly beautiful. The winding road were dotted with colorful houses and mountain views were abundant.

We had an absolutely wonderful day in El Sauce. The sky opened up and we had heavy rains in the afternoon, but that didn't dampen anyone's enthusiasm. 192 people were served in the general clinic today. One of our nurses noted that this village seemed to have a higher number of sick people and a larger number of antibiotics were prescribed today.

Another nurse on our team had a very special moment with a woman who came to the clinic today. This woman had been through it all - an abusive husband, then a divorce, she lost custody of her children and suffers from epilepsy. She admitted that she had once tried to commit suicide, since she believed she was worthless and had nothing to live for. Thankfully she did not succeed, and her life has slowly begun to improve. She has a new husband who is loving and devoted, but she still has her seizures a few times a week. She was referred to the doctor, but our nurse spent about an hour listening to this woman tell her story. From the outside, it may not seem like a big deal that the nurse listened to her talk. The woman came and found our nurse just before we were getting ready to leave for the day, and told her "Thank you, I love you." Everyone has a voice and a story, regardless of background or status.

It's hard to believe that tomorrow is our last village. It feels like we just got here yesterday. Check in tomorrow for Team Bethany's last journal.
