Nury had a sweet treat for us today by taking us to the chocolate farm. Near this farm is an ancient Lenca ceremonial mound, which we explored first, then we were told all about the growth, harvesting and processing of the Honduran cocoa bean. Of course, the best part was the sampling of the end product of some fresh and delicious hot chocolate. All seemed to enjoy the hiking and touring as well as the taste-testing of the chocolate culinary confection.
We returned to Alfedo's house for the usual Sunday afternoon activities of counting our abundant supplies and collecting all things needed for each work day. It's always a delight to inventory God's provision of handmade and donated items for babies, children and adults. The tubs of love will deliver countless blessings to the grateful families of Honduras. The kindness and generosity of our donors will be a sweet treat for Honduras.
In the middle of counting inventory, our team leader, Scott, finally arrived! We are so thankful that he was able to make the trip and that he was so determined to come. It's hard to believe what he has been through considering how great he looks and seems to feel. His presence is the icing on the cake to our week of service. Our spirits are soaring with the completion of our team.
Scott's devotion tonight was from an Old Testament verse Jeremiah 29:11. His encouragement to us was about God having a plan for each of our lives and the need for us to use the gifts He has given us. He said each of us may have a gift that someone else might need this week, or maybe one of us might be the one in need. He asked us to look for ways to meet those needs.
Our day began on a sweet note and we experienced good things throughout. We know from whom these good things come. Because of God's goodness, there is a sweet, sweet Spirit in this place.
We would appreciate prayers for our work day on Monday. There is an excitement in anticipation for what the day will bring along with a little anxiety. But all are ready and willing to meet the mountain people of Honduras and share our gifts and love with them.
Blessings to you all,
For I know the plans that I have for you, says the Lord, plans for peace and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.
