Today, on Wednesday in Honduras we awoke to the best weather yet. Our devotional was led by Michelle which focused on running and how life should be lived more like a marathon as opposed to a sprint. As she discussed, there may be days with long miles and obstacles that may make it challenging to reach the finish line. This is when we should rely upon the Lord for strength and encouragement. Isaiah 41:10 instructs us to not fear as Jesus is with us, he will strengthen and help us and he will uphold us with his righteous hand.
We departed early for the Cerro Azul, Taulabe, Comayagua community of 530 inhabitants where we served over 240 residents. In the eye clinic today, Dawn, Virginia and Marco fitted over 40 residents with eyeglasses. One highlight included when an older lady with a leg disability was able to easily maneuver into the eye clinic to receive her new eye glasses and a hand shawl that was specially made to give away.
On our way back to the Alfredo House, we stopped for a delicious ice cream treat and was delighted to debrief about the day and to enjoy the pleasant scenery with the team and staff.
After our arrival back home our delicious dinner was again prepared by Virginia and Albita followed up with a devotional and fun activity led by Francis. The activity began by receiving an object with our eyes closed. We next guessed what the object was and its significance. After discovering is was a toy, plastic frog we were told the Frog stood as a acronym for fully relying on God. FROGs are visibly present everywhere in Honduras and with the Honduran people. Their resilience and spirit are inspiring and reminders for us to focus on the important things in life and to leave our worries with God.
