The University City Medical Team began their day with a devotional led by Lindsay Gallegly. The devotional focused on seeing things more from Jesus' perspective. Reminding us that when little things don't go our way that we should just say "oh well". By doing so, diligently, we will discover most of our worries are not important. The devotional was truly applicable as we had a sudden change of plans that sent us to the beautiful village of Las Quebradas as opposed to our original destination.
On on our way to Las Quebradas, we were blessed with viewing God's creation of countless clouds lightly touching the mountains tops which help in setting the tone of the day.
Upon arrival, like yesterday, we were greeted with smiling faces and grateful hearts. Today, the medical team saw over 200 patients in the general clinic, dispensed over 200 vitamin packets and deworming medication. Our day ended in the village with Lindsay, Frances, Dawn and Gabby treating the children to fingernail painting and temporary tattoos. As we departed it was amazing to watch the children's joy and thankfulness with their new, simple treasures.
Time at the Alfredo house in the late evening lent to delightful conversations about health, family, the day's journey and God's love. Our evening dinner was as delightful as the night before and was followed by a lovely devotional led by Virginia on gratitude and contentment. As Philippians 4:11-13 teaches us, we should be content in every situation, along with knowing we can do all things through Christ that strengthens me. The devotional sums up our day and will aid us as we continue our journey in Honduras.
