Disaster Relief

The Friends of Barnabas Foundation desires to have a team of workers ready to respond to catastrophic situations across our nation.  Our Disaster Relief work is threefold:
  • Locating people in need
  • Organizing work teams
  • Funding materials needs
FOBF's first Disaster Relief missions were to Southampton County, Virginia.  There, for over a year and a half we sent teams to refurbish homes damaged by the flooding of Hurricane Floyd.  The long term dedication is important to the recovery of a devastated area.  Soon after the disaster, the area is literally covered in volunteers - which in itself is a great thing, but soon, as the story fades from the news, the volunteers to the area dwindle.  The sad fact is that a great deal of work often remains to be done.

This home in Dockside, VA was raised 8 feet to be
above the flood plain.

The last two years have seen extensive flooding in West Virginia, and FOBF sponsored teams have been there.

When a disaster occurs, organize a team from your church or organization and come to us.  We will arrange and pay for boarding costs and help your team be in touch with local work organizers.

We all pray that disasters do not occur, but when and if they do, we will do what if takes to get you there.  Just call us.

Making sure that people without a prayer have one.
